Gearing Up for a Great Year

Hey Stringers!

We’re still alive! I know we sort of dropped off the face of the Earth for a while there, but I promise it was for a good reason. We’ve been working really hard behind the scenes to bring us closer to opening our store. We took a 9-week business course with a really amazing group, LAEDA. These super amazing people have been helping us iron out all the kinks in our business plan and teaching us about so many different elements of successful business operation… Seriously, these people are awesome. Check them out.

We’re also gearing up for a great year with our sister group South Jersey Yarners. They (aka we) meet First and Third Fridays of every month. We’re looking forward to continuing the amazing things that have been happening over there. But we need some help. We need to know what’s important to YOU. Check out our Ravelry Group, and specifically this Post Thread to help us decide where to focus our energy over the coming year. If you don’t have a Ravelry account, it’s free to sign up, and seriously one of the best resources around for yarn crafters. And no, we’re not endorsed by them at all. They’re seriously just that awesome.

What are your plans for making this year great?

Have you already fallen off the resolution band-wagon? It’s okay, we’ve all done it. But there’s still plenty of time to jump back on and get the ball rolling! Stevie is tackling some of the Craft Yarn Council Certifications this year, and Rachel is determined to finish a few shawls. Whether yarn-related or not, how can you make this your best year yet? Let’s DO IT!

Can’t forget the game…

You’re either in it to win it, or stuck watching it, It’s That Special Football Sunday whether we like it or not. Here’s a few crafty things to help you through the game. I don’t wanna say who we’re rooting for but I’ll give you a hint: it’s not the blue guys.

Football Beer Cozies – (crochet) Because no Special Football Sunday Party is complete without football!

Football Coasters – (knit) Just because they’re party animals doesn’t mean they can leave rings on your furniture!

Donna’s Denver Hat – (knit) Use your team’s colors, and keep your ears warm and your spirits high! GO TEAM!

Football Earwarmer – (crochet) Go Incognito! No one has to know who you support, unless you trim it with a cute flower in your team’s colors!
